Peel L&P’s Liverpool Waters recently welcomed two incredible vessels to the city’s waterfront, as Liverpool was chosen to host the marking of momentous occasions.

On 25^th February, we saw the launch of Virgin Voyages’ ‘Scarlet Lady’, Virgin’s brand new 2,700 passenger ocean liner, as it docked at Liverpool Cruise Terminal, Princes Dock before heading off on its maiden voyage to America and around the Caribbean.

Scarlet Lady is the company’s first ever ocean cruise liner and at around 277m in length, it promises those on board a non-traditional cruise experience.

The excitement was closely followed by a unique visit from Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, with Liverpool having been chosen as one of only two cities to host the vessel.

The ship is one of the most powerful ever constructed in the UK and – along with her sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth – the largest ever built for the Royal Navy.

The ship’s flight deck has enough space to fit three football pitches, measuring an enormous 280 metres long by 70 metres wide.

Visitors to Princes Dock were treated to impressive views of the aircraft carrier while it is docked in the Mersey.

Thousands of people with free tickets were invited on board to see the ship up close, with an exclusive look before the Aircraft Carrier set off

During its visit, the waterfront was alive with military processions, events, and food and drink concessions to entertain those who didn’t manage to snap up a ticket on-board.
