ROYAL RECEPTION FOR ARMED FORCES
Prince Edward was joined by the Prime Minister, the Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region, Steve Rotherham, and the Mayor of Liverpool City Council, Joe Anderson, to celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24th June at Princes Dock, Liverpool Waters.
The Army, Navy and RAF were all present at the event with tanks, helicopters, and other military hardware on display for the crowds who turned out to salute our forces. The HMS Iron Duke was stationed at the cruise terminal as hundreds of people queued for the chance to go aboard and get a feel of life on the high seas.
There was also a 1,000 strong parade from St Georges Hall to a display arena on the waterfront which hosted a number of military bands throughout the day. Flyovers from two World War Two spitfires, a Royal Navy Wildcat and the Red Arrows added a spectacular splash of colour to proceedings.
