COMMONWEALTH GAMES BID
Liverpool City Council has submitted its bid to be host city for the Commonwealth Games in 2022, including potential venues here at Liverpool Waters.
One venue sure to cause a splash is a floating pool for the swimming competition. The pool would have temporary stands and a roof for the period of the games, both of which would be removed afterwards to turn the venue into a city centre lido open to the public.
The bid also includes plans for a temporary running track for athletics events at the proposed new Everton stadium at Bramley Moore Dock and an athletes’ village on the waterfront.
Liverpool is competing against Birmingham to be the UK’s entry in the race to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022 with an announcement expected in the autumn. #IamLiverpool2022
