MAKING WAVES AT MIPIM

Darran Lawless, development director, Liverpool Waters

MIPIM, the four-day international property festival held in Cannes, is an incredibly important date in the industry’s calendar. With developers, investors and contractors from across the globe in attendance, it’s a fantastic opportunity for cities to communicate their plans.

This year, our role at Peel Land and Property (Peel L&P) was to demonstrate depth of opportunities available for investors, developers and partners at both Liverpool Waters and Wirral Waters. It is a brilliant opportunity to update the property world on the tremendous progress being made by both schemes.

We had the opportunity to showcase to attendees the developments already happening at Princes Dock, with two new residential buildings currently underway, bringing fantastic apartments to our city centre, as well as the impending cruise liner.

We also shared the fantastic progress that has been made since last year’s event at Central Docks. Alongside our partners at Romal, we showcased the near-complete Quay Central and advancing Park Central, the first two developments within this new neighbourhood.

It was also an exciting opportunity to hear from Everton FC about their plans and vision for the proposed stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, which will be a true asset for Liverpool Waters. CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale provided the international audience with an overview of the scheme, what the feedback has been so far, following the most recent consultation, and next steps for the stadium’s planning application, due to be submitted later this year.

But it wasn’t just about Liverpool Waters, our entire Liverpool City Region delegation was incredibly strong with a real sense of community spirit, and we were proud to be a headline sponsor alongside our sister development, Wirral Waters.

Everyone representing Liverpool put out a united message that the city is open for business, communicating the true extent of opportunities that exist, including the waterfront.

This year’s MIPIM provided some really useful discussions with potential investors and developers, and presented some incredible opportunities to help drive our city region forward.

We look forward to building on the relationships that were made at MIPIM this year, and will continue to keep stakeholders and investors up to date with all of the latest developments at Liverpool Waters, as we continue to make tremendous progress in creating a waterfront for the world.
